Etienne is a Flemish painter, born in Alken, Belgium, and grew up in the Haspengouw fruit region. After studying at the Academies of Sint-Truiden and Hasselt in the 1990s and 2000s, and exhibiting both at home and abroad (see CV), he constantly strives to improve himself.

His passion for painting remains an ever-ongoing search for growth and perfection. For the past three years, he has been working under the mentorship of Gommaar Gilliams, a painter represented by Galerie Sofie Vandevelde.

In his paintings, Etienne Jammaers explores the subtle tension between expansive, timeless landscapes and the sparsely suggested presence of the human figure. This contrast evokes a hushed experience in which humility and introspection take center stage.

The artist invites the viewer to reflect on the transience of human presence, set against the apparent permanence and eternity of nature.

Jammaers does not seek to diminish the significance of human presence, but rather to highlight the resilience and continuity of the landscape and nature in general. His works thus open up a perspective in which humanity is once again situated within a larger, enduring whole.

The body of work presented here is therefore a synthesis of all of this.
